AIRPORT SECURITY SPECIALIST
This is technical and specialized work in which class incumbents provide airport security. Work involves monitoring and enforcing day-to-day security at the airport facility and coordinating the response to airport emergencies, which may include periods of high stress. Minimum Training and Experience Possession of an associate’s degree in aviation management, business administration, criminal justice or a related field; or two years of experience that includes airport operations, airline operations, public safety communications, or military service; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. In accordance with 49 CFR Part 1542, employees must successfully complete a fingerprint-based criminal history records check and personal background check prior to employment and possess a valid Class E State driver's License at time of appointment. DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
The City of Garden City owns and operates the Garden City Regional Airport (GCK). GCK is a non-hub primary EAS airport located in Southwest Kansas. The Director of Operations reports directly to the Director of Aviation. The Director of Operations is responsible to manage all aspects of airport operations complying with Part 139 regulations, maintenance of buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment, managing snow operations, pavement maintenance, emergency operations, security operations, and will supervise four full time employees. Our growing airport needs an experienced and resourceful Director of Operations to develop growth in staff and facilities. The ideal candidate will have the following: a college degree in business, aviation management or public administration, three (3) years in Part 139 airport operations, two (2) years in snow removal, and (2) years of supervisory responsibilities. In lieu of degree, additional work experience and/or trade school is acceptable. Pay range is $43,840 - $65,760.
