ARFF/OPERATIONS 1
Performs duties associated with ARFF response and Public Safety; maintains a safe environment for the airport, aircraft, and the general public; responds to aircraft emergencies; provides aircraft rescue and firefighting; performs emergency medical treatment to injured persons. Performs airfield operations duties per FAA part 139 regulations. Performs perimeter and facility security, parking enforcement and other airport security related issues. This position reports to the Fire Chief/Public Safety Manager. In the absence of the Fire Chief, this position reports to the ARFF Captain. AIRPORT OPERATIONS COORDINATOR I
Under the direction of the Airport Security and Operations Center Manager, the Operations Coordinator I provides centralized security and communications oversight for the airport while working in the 24/7/365 Airport Operations Center. The primary duties of this position include monitoring surveillance cameras, access points, alarms, energy management systems, weather-related equipment, phones, and radios. AOCs assist with terminal, TSA & FAA inspections, tests and audits as well as assisting airport management on matters involving safety, security, and customer service. Acting as “Trusted Agents”, AOCs are responsible for viewing, recording, and processing background checks for airport badge holders. Promotion opportunities exist after 12 months of service. AIRPORT SAFETY OFFICER II
Contra Costa County Public Works Department is recruiting to fill Airport Safety Officer II vacancies for Buchanan and Byron Airports. Airport Safety Officer II journey-level positions perform a wide range of airfield operations and safety duties, maintenance and aviation security activities at the county-owned airports to ensure compliance with Airport, Federal and Transportation Security Regulations. These positions control and enforce airport regulations and provide aircraft crash rescue and fire suppression services in emergency situations, inspect airport properties and aircraft areas, navigation and FAA equipment; perform maintenance and repairs on all airport systems and equipment such as ramps, taxiways and vehicles; uses various heavy equipment to maintain airfield pavements; act independently or as a member of an airport safety crew when responding to security issues, general airfield incidents and emergencies such as fuel spills or during aircraft crash rescue and fire suppression situations and other duties.

AIRPORT OPERATIONS COORDINATOR - AIRSIDE
The role of the Airport Operations Coordinator - (Airside) ensures that the airfield meets all FAR 139 requirements to provide a safe and efficient airfield operating environment for aircraft, vehicles and personnel; coordinates airfield maintenance and construction activities; participates in various phases of emergency management and irregular operations, while interacting with airlines, federal agencies, and airport management; assists in responding to aircraft and medical emergencies; and monitors the arrival, parking, refueling, loading, and departure of aircraft. Operations experience at a large-hub airport is a plus. Assist with revisions to the Airport's regulatory documents. Must have a working knowledge of FAA rules, regulations, directives, procedures and Advisory Circulars governing airport operations. Should be able to act independently, decisively in emergency situations and assume a leadership role in identifying and executing workable solutions to mitigate problems. Inspects aircraft movement areas to ensure a safe and secure environment and initiates corrective actions.
