The Aviation Department which operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and the North Perry Airport (HWO) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Information Officer (PIO). This position acts as the Aviation Department's spokesperson for internal/external communications, overseeing all public relations, media, promotions, website, social media platforms, presentations, special events, and community outreach. The PIO will work closely with representatives from the local press, radio, and television, County and City officials, Community groups, and Airline executives to support community success and enhance goodwill toward the Airport. The PIO must be able to respond and act quickly to disseminate technical and sensitive information to all media platforms. Must be able to work non-traditional work hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays. The work involves responsibility for performing a variety of semi-skilled tasks in connection with the maintenance and repair of all facilities and equipment at a municipal airport. The employee keeps the airport facilities hazard free and its buildings and grounds attractive and in good repair. Work involves the operation of motor equipment of heavy weight, as well as the operation of heavy snow removal equipment. An employee in this class is on call under assigned supervision for emergency and snow removal activities.

This is an hourly position with night shift differential, and mandatory OT in the winter. We are seeking hard-working individuals with airport experience who want to make a difference by contributing in keeping Syracuse Hancock International Airport safe and secure. The work involves responsibility for performing a variety of tasks associated with the efficient and effective operations of Syracuse Hancock International Airport during an assigned shift. Assignments consists of working the operations desk and being stationed within the airport complex inspecting the grounds for security, safety, lighting deficiencies and surface conditions. Employees must exercise independent judgement based upon the situations encountered and their knowledge of a variety of operations manuals and procedures. Assignments are received from the Airport Operations Officer or a designee.
