AIRPORT PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER
The Springfield Airport Authority is accepting applications for an Airport Public Safety Officer. This position is responsible for providing law enforcement, aircraft rescue and firefighting, emergency medical and airport operations services for Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. Requires completion of 560-hour Basic Police Training Course and Police Officer Wellness Evaluation Report and certification from the State of Illinois as a Police Officer (current certification with the Illinois Local Law Enforcement Board may be approved). Within 9 months of hire, requires completion of 40-hour Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Course, 40-hour medical first responder course, airfield drivers training, wildlife hazard management training and use of pyrotechnics. Requires familiarity with FAR parts 77, 139 and TSA 1500 series. AIRPORT OPERATIONS OFFICER (2 POSITIONS)
Requires successful completion of TSA Criminal History Records Check & Security Threat Assessment prior to appointment and the ability to maintain these clearances as a condition of employment. Interprets and enforces federal, state, local rules and regulations applicable to airport operations; responds to emergencies; compiles/monitors flight schedules and coordinates them with air carriers; monitors aircraft operations. Performs airfield, terminal and landside inspections as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); ensures Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and lease agreement compliance; responds to tenants/public inquiries and complaints; prepares related reports; works under the general direction of the Manager of Airport Operations and is reviewed via personal consultation, written reports and conferences. The Palm Beach County (PBC) Board of County Commissioners provides an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental and life insurance as well as vacation and sick leave, tuition reimbursement and participation in the Florida Retirement System.
